HOMETOWN GIRL BECOMES AUTHOR OF ROMANCE TRIOLOGY
October 22, 2016

Author Rosalee Wilson aka Jasmine Parks

I’m sitting at the Cracker Barrel on Charlotte Pike in Nashville with Rosalee Sweatt also known as Rosalee Wilson aka Jasmine Parks.  I have known Rosalee since we were teenagers at Cohn High School in Nashville.  She was born and bred in Nashville.

Well, actually, we didn’t see each other for years, then after X number of years, we started bumping into each other at this same Cracker Barrel, and Rosalee mentioned to me at the time that she had written a book, and it was called A Mushy Mouse Tale.  The book about Mushy Mouse was a children’s book and was written under Rosalee’s married name of Rosalee Wilson.

To introduce readers to Jasmine, I have had a sit down brief interview with her to talk about her books.

When I asked Rosalee about her reason for using a pen name, she had a very logical explanation, “I started out in children’s books under my name, but I had some bad experiences with my publishers.  So, I invented the name Jasmine Parks to separate my children’s book from my novels.”

Pam:  "What experience did you have with the publishers that was bad?"

Rosalee:  "Taking my royalties."

Pam:  "Do you think that is that a common occurrence in the world of publishing?"

Rosalee:  "It can be if you don’t check out or investigate the publisher in advance."

Pam:  "What made you decide to switch over to romance novels?"

Rosalee:  "That’s a good question.  I kind of got an idea for a story about my mom and how she met my dad.  So, I wrote about it.  She was searching for love, and I kind of got into the story when I wrote it, so that’s when I got into the idea of writing romance novels.  I guess it would be my idea of my mom’s love story.  And then my best friend’s love story.  That was my second book  One Priceless Treasure.

Pam:  "What was that about?"

Rosalee:  "Basically how a treasure isn’t necessarily a material thing.  It can be a person.  A treasure can be a person, not just a piece of jewelry."

Pam:  "So, tell me about your trilogy that has just been published."

Rosalee:  "What’s it about?  Okay. It’s um..a royal love story.  The reason I say that is because it involves kings and queens, their trials and storms in life.  It shows that they are human too.  They go through the same problems that everybody does.  But, if you have love, that’s the most important thing of all.  And if you have God in your life, then your trials and storms are much easier to bear."

"It’s a story about different families and how they survive the difficulties that arise.  There is mystery, love, sorrow and surprises.  I don’t know what else to say exactly without giving away the main story line."

Pam:  Okay.  "Let’s leave it at that.  What are the names of the books in your trilogy, what is the name of your publishing company and where can people find your books?"

Rosalee:  “The Secrets Within; Timeless Love; and  The Sands of Time.  Heart of My Heart Publishing is the publisher."

Pam:  "You have mentioned to me on several occasions that you have always had a fascination with the subject of Egypt.  Is Egypt the setting for the stories?"

Rosalee:  "Well, it began in New York, but I was transported to Egypt through one of the characters who was an archeologist, and I just kind of stayed over there."

Pam:  "Wow.  That sounds very interesting indeed."

Rosalee:  "Basically most of it is in Egypt, they may come back to New York once or twice, but most of it is in Egpyt."

Pam:  "That’s enough of a carrot to dangle in front of potential readers!"

"Neil Young has been called one of the most prolific musicians and songwriters of our time since the songs and music seem to have flowed from him effortlessly over decades.  I see that stories seem to flow from you in that same manner.  Can you tell me about how these stories flow so easily?"

Rosalee: "I think it is a gift from God. I pray before I write and the words evolve from there. Sometimes I amaze myself with words that I’m not that familiar with. But it sounds good so I just go with the flow. Words just come to me sometime while I am writing and I just ask 'Where did that come from?' and I just go with it."

"You can find Jasmine’s books at the following links.  Other than on the publisher’s website, her newest book of the triology, Sands of Time is not yet available on Amazon or Barnes and Noble sites, but will be available there shortly."
